About
Why a School of Intelligent Systems?
In an era of digital transformation and accelerating technological change, intelligent systems have become a cornerstone of scientific, industrial and economic development. The convergence of artificial intelligence, micro and nanotechnology, the Internet of Things, mechatronics and robotics, big-data analytics and cyber-physical systems calls for genuinely interdisciplinary teaching and research.
The School of Intelligent Systems was founded as a strategic response to emerging labour-market needs, to strengthen national technological capability and to educate problem-driven specialists. Traditional departmental structures alone cannot cover these tightly interconnected fields.
The School brings together electrical, computer and mechanical engineering with data science, creating a home for applied research, complex industrial problem solving and new technology. It operates within the College of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology at the University of Tehran.

A machine-learning model for early detection of bloodstream infection, published in a leading journal and released as software.

A microtechnology-based biosensor for fast detection of inflammatory markers in critically ill patients.

Micro gas chromatography system
A portable MEMS-based gas-analysis instrument, the first of its kind built in Iran.

The world's first metallic micro-accelerometer
Design and fabrication of a metallic micro-accelerometer and an integrated two-axis nanopositioning system.

Face-based remote identity verification (eKYC)
A face-recognition system for remote identity verification developed in the Data and Signal Processing Laboratory.

Smart customs cargo and transit system
A national programme including hydraulic barriers, a data centre and a smart road-police assistant for Iranian customs.
